Before you head home for the Holidays take ten to watch and learn as Veteran Crash Investigator Mike Pehl gives you practical tips to avoid falling asleep at the wheel or being blinded in the night.
Drowsy driving is the dangerous combination of driving and sleepiness or fatigue. This usually happens when a driver has not slept enough, but it can also happen because of untreated sleep disorders, medications, drinking alcohol, or shift work. These things make you less able to pay attention to the road.
Driving at night is a lot riskier than driving in the daytime. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, you’re three times more likely to have a fatal accident at night than during the day.
